Card Candy

I've heard about this idea and seen it online with different groups I belong to but I've never fully understood the term Card Candy!!! I was the recipient of this Card Candy at convention! My up-line Susan Legits designed it and gave it as her group gift in our gift exchange!!! I can see myself doing this with my punches and the tons of scraps I seem to have in boxes just collecting dust!!!!! The cards are 3x3 and you can get 8 from a 12 x 12 sheet of paper just by cutting 3x6 inch pieces and folding in half !!!!!

Build a Brad Bracelet....

Created by Karen Kurz : This was another item I received in the gotstamps gift exchange at convention!!! Karen saw this idea at leadership and on a couple of blogs!! She made 13 of them using build a brads and the circle punch!!! Karen also designed the box and lid in which the bracelet was given to us!! The box has a couple rub-ons on it as well!!!! I love how versatile our products are!!!!

DoorPrize Glass Jar

I used this jar on Tuesday night at my open house to hold my doorprizes in!! We saw this done at convention with the spooky spider decor element that is in in my previous post! I thought this would be a good door prize jar instead! My customer loved it(or maybe it was the doorprizes)!! Jar can be purchased at Walmart for $13.

SPOOKY SPIDER

My friend Leslie Banks (her link is in the right column on this page) was thinking of doing this idea! We saw something similiar on a glass jar at Convention! She wanted to use a pail instead!! I thought it was a great idea so I CASED it from her!!!! Hope that was ok Leslie!!!!
Now I have a pail I can put my Halloween treats in for the kiddos every year!!!! SPooky word and giant spider will be coming to a demonstrator near you this fall! The bucket I got at Home Depot! Orange craft paint at Walmart! Ribbon and smaller spiders can be found at Michael's.

DECORATING MADE EASY!!!

I REALLY REALLY LOVE the new Decor Elements Line by Stampin Up!!! I got to play this weekend with a bunch of the different elements to decorate my house! I wanted it ready for my open house Tuesday night!! Here is the frst thing I decorated! My front door!! I think it turned out really well!!!

When we bought my house in 1999 we put up a sign that said do not disturb before 4pm with a skull and crossbones picture. The reason we did this was because we worked nights and everyone in the world would knock or ring the doorbell!! I took the sign off my door when hubbie lost his job last Aug!! The tape was still on the door and was a pain to get off!! I thought it would be easy just to put the frame and monogram up! NO!!!! I had to scrape off the masking tape with a razor blad cause even UNDU didn't work!! I then had to repaint my front door as well!! All so I could make my monogram pretty!!!! So anyone have pics they want to share of their Decor Elements!!!!

Connie took an idea we've all have seen using the SU! Carousel notes and shrunk it!! This is a mini scrapbook purse using our New In Color CS and Bella Rose Designer Paper!! It uses the mini square envelopes and 3x3 gift cards!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

Fridge SB Magnet

This is a coaster magnet for my Fridge! I'm gonna put a picture of me and my honey on it! Brenda stamped using the Fresh Cuts set to decorate the olive and Choc chip! She added a strip of ribbon to the round coaster!! Of course no gift is complete without chocolate!! The nuggets are wrapped in blank address labels that have been stamped!!

Mini Altoid Purse

Kathy Morgan designed this using an Altoid tin and SU!'s new Bella Rose DSP. After I've used the mints and chapstick I can Carry around my money and credit cards by using the handy little wrist strap! The scallop punched image on the left side is a tiny mirror(eyeball size). I love this idea!!!

Convention was a blast!!! I met so many new people and swapped about 500 cards and 3D items to get new ideas!!! Some of which I will post to my blog in the coming days and weeks!!!

We have about 20 new designer papers + new Simply Scrappin kits and print papers!

My favorite convention announcement (in case you haven't been plugged into all the buzz)
SU! has partnered up with SIZZIX! We will have die-cuts and embossing images that are exclusive to us!! In Sept we will be carrying the Big Shot diecut/embossing machine and many SU! only dies!! BE SURE to hunt down your favorite demonstrator for all the details!!!!

Just wanted to touch base and fill you in on some stuff!! Once I catch up on my sleep and unpacking I'll be back with more!!

Evan MORE Convention SWAPS

MORE convention swaps!! I get bored easily!! I'm up to 500 swaps now! Not sure what this technique is called but my name for it is marker doodling (official name is called thumping)! I inked my image in Basful Blue and then took coordinating colors and markered them directly on the stamp! Huffed stamp to re-moisten and then stamped my image!!! Lightest to darkest colors work best for this tech so that markers don't get ruined!!

My Awesome Customers Part 2

Tutorial...Scallop Edging

STEP 1: Make sure punch guard is off of punch.

Real Red strip uses the slit punch
to get the scallop effect!!

STEP 2: Cut a strip of red as wide as you need.

STEP 3: Take slit punch and
place in center of strip all the
way up the paper strip.

STEP 4: Punch the slit.

STEP 5: Do that all the way along the strip on both sides of center slit.

STEP 6: Once you reach the end, paper will seperate and you'll have the scallop.

CARD on Left

SETS: Fresh Cuts

CS:Bliss BLue - Basic BLack - Glossy White
INK: Stazon Black -Celery-Apricot-Bliss

Other: Celery 5/8" ribbon

Stamped the image in Stazon and then just sponged on the other inks over the black on the glossy CS.

CARD on RIGHT

SET: Eat Cake

DSP: East Coast Prep

CS: Turquoise - Mustard - Real Red- Whispr White

Ink: Versamark

Markers: match the CS colors

INK: = Basic Black Stamppad & Markers of Regal Rose and Rose Red
OTHER: Sticky strip for the beads on cup lip and crystal effect for the DD glitter on the strawberry lemonade slice on the cup!!!

I used a pretty in pink marker to color the slice of lemon and then I colored
the edges of lemon in rose red marker to give it a two tone effect!!!

The card is pretty straightforward!!! All I did to get the multiple tree colors is stamp my tree in summer sun and them I just brushed markers in different fall colors over the top! The key to thistechnique is starting with the lightest color on your stamp and using the markers to add other darker colors layer by layer!!!!

Every Tuesday night my customers get together and stamp. I usually find time to join them! About 3 years ago on my birthday I got a card from each of them that night! 2005 Sabbatical SB Page

Sets: Making Tracks Wheel

In 2005 my husband's company gave him a paid 2 month Sabbatical and we took to the road on our Harley! I had saved enough vacation that I could go too!!!The background of this SB page is the tire tracks wheel in different colors(they match the dots on the map) The title was a photo I took of some scenery in the BADLANDS of SD. I then used an outline font and printed it over the photo. Cut out the words and I had my title. My journaling is on the tab marked pull hidden behind the map!!! This is my favorite way to journal because my sloppy handwriting is hidden and it makes te page more pleasing to the eye! Once it's in the page protector I just slit the protector and you can pull out the journaling if necessary.

SORRY!! I haven't posted sooner this week! Work and life seemed to have gotten in the way.

This is a SB Page I entered in SU!'s Artisan Award Contest. Each of the pictures is about 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". Behind the center 6 x 6 square I placed 3 choc chip square 6 1/4" x 6 1/4" envelopes. I then added 3 more 6 x 6 pages of my favorite things!!!! The left picture shows it closed and the right show what it would look like after all pull tabs have been pulled out!!!

I stamped image twice on DSP paper. Once on either side of 1 sheet. Hard to see in photo but main stomach part is the light pink side of DSP paper. I then cut pieces out and put together like a puzzle!!

Flower Pot Card

Cardstock: Purely Pomegranate - Groovy Guava -Choc Chip - Whisper White
Punches: Scallop Circle - 1"circle - 11/4"circle - 1 3/8" circle
DSP: Wild Wasabi Prints (hostess level 1)
Sets: All Through the Year - So Many Scallops(2008 Sell-a-Bration Set)
Inks: Wild Wasabi - Purely Pomegranate - Groovy Guava

To get the decoration on the flower pot I used the leftovers from punching out circles! For the stems I used a bamboo skewer to wrap strips of wasabi print paper around. The leaves are raised by using pop dots.

One of A Kind Card

This was another card I sent to Stampin UP! for a contest! Didn't win with this one either! ;o(

SUPPLIES:
Sets: Riot of Petals - One of a Kind
CS: Very Vanilla/GardenGreen/Cameo Coral/Ballet Blue
Inks: Used both markers and inkpads in the above CS colors
Punches: 1" and 1 3/8" circle
Other: VersaMark Pad - Gold Brad- Glassy Glaze EP

Instructions: I'm an expert at CASEing but this is a Jenni Original :o)
For this card I stamped Riot of Petals in Cameo coral ink and then markered on the garden green. I used the fishy wheel (can't remember it's name) and rolled out some fish in ballet and cameo ink! I cut out the fish and adhered to my card! I took my Versamark pad and went over the whole piece of vanilla cardstock, after which I embossed with Glassy glaze EP (3 seperate coats). I punched a 1" circle into Ballet Blue CS and then punched a 1 3/8" over it to give me the ring around my orange fishy! VOILA my card is DONE!!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY - Faux Wood Technique

SUPPLIES:
CS: Wild Wasabi and Choc Chip Very Vanilla
SETS: Noble Deer
Re-inkers: Certainly Celery and Close to Cocoa
Markers: Choc Chip
Other: Golde Brad and Linen Thread (picture hanger)

DIRECTIONS
1) Place celery and cocoa re-inkers in seperate non pourous dishes (about 10 drops to start)
2) Take tooth brush and put in celery ink and brush card in up/down motion with toothbrush.
3) Repeat as often as you like.
4) Now do the same with cocoa reinker as often as you like.
** NOT much to look at until you add some close too cocoa lines and dots with marker**
5) Add lines with marker, spacing them about 3/4" apart.
6) VOILA Card is now Done!

From the Garden... Magic Pattern Card

SUPPLIES:
Stamp Sets: Tres Chic Background - From the Garden (hosstess Level 1)
CS: Rose Red - Very Vanilla
Watercolor Crayons: - Ballet Blue - Garden Green - Regal Rose - Rose Red
Other: Gold Brad - HodgePodge Hardware Ribbon Slide - Crystal Effects
Rose Red Reinker - Word WiIndow Punch

DIRECTIONS:
1) Stamp main image (From the Garden) on CS in permanent (waterproof) ink.
2) Stamp pattern image (Tres Chic) in Versamark ink.
3) Emboss with clear embossing powder.
4) Color image and background with WC crayons.
As you do this the pattern image will start to pop.
5) Voila Your Card is done!!!!

I Took the Plunge

I DID IT!!!! I DID IT!!!! With a little help from my friend Erica Bass and NO help from my hubbie who thinks I'm not computer savvy. I DID IT and it only took 10 hours!!!!
